What is Hypnotherapy?


Hypnotherapy is a powerful healing tool to tap into the subconscious mind and create a process of accelerated change through the use of Hypnosis to reprogram subconscious patterns.  Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness in which the subject has heightened suggestibility, within certain limitations. He/she can access creativity, reprogram old patterns, overcome limiting beliefs, reduce stress, work with pain relief, and access hidden strengths that enhance confidence, self esteem, self love, and improved overall performances. An altered state of consciousness, or trance state, is a normal and natural state that almost everyone goes in and out of multiple times each day. For instance; most people have experienced being in a boring class or meeting where, without even realizing it, they "go somewhere else" in their minds and are abruptly brought back to the present when asked a question. Daydreaming is common trance state. Driving on autopilot is another. Becoming so focused on a book or movie or problem such that everything else fades out around you is another common trance state leaving you feeling extremely calm & relaxed alleviating stress and anxiety through the process. Hypnosis is simply a guided trance state that follows a series of processes including NLP techniques to help a person create profound subconscious change.

Why does hypnosis work? 

During hypnosis, your body relaxes and your thoughts become more focused.  Like other relaxation techniques, hypnosis lowers blood pressure and heart rate, and changes certain types of brain wave activity allowing us to tap into the 88% of your subconscious mind power that dominates your total mind power.  In this relaxed state, you will feel at ease physically yet fully awake mentally and may be highly responsive to suggestion which is why this trance state is extremely powerful to create accelerated changes in your life.  It's a state in which you normally wouldn't be able to create such deep changes on just a conscious level  alone.  it's a reprogramming of the subconscious mind and it's interpretation methods.  If you are trying to quit smoking, for example, a therapist's suggestion may help convince you that you will not like the taste of cigarettes in the future. Some people respond better to hypnotic suggestion than others.

What happens in a session?

Each session normally takes anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes and is tailored to your requirements. We start by distinguishing your area of focus and testing your suggestibility to distinguish how your brain is processing information and which side of the hemispheres of the brain you are operating from most to structure your suggestions tailored to your best subconscious understanding method.  We begin each session with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in order to create and distinguish your subconscious mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual patterns of behaviors.  We then go into the Hypnosis part of the session which is where we start by physically relaxing and then I talk you down into an altered state of consciousness. Everything disclosed by you to me remains strictly confidential and is not disclosed to anyone without your specific written permission.  The process creates an awakening process consciously and subconsciously that creates an empowered emotional and mental environment even within the first session.  

 

How many sessions should I expect?

I recommend start with a 3 session, 5 session or 10 session package and then we can assess your progress at that time. You may have spent years thinking and behaving a certain way, so it may take some time to achieve the desired results. Prepare to make an investment in your well-being. With that said, you should experience some improvement even after one session. And sometimes this improvement is dramatic.  

 

Can hypnosis help me & will I be hypnotized in my first session?

Yes.   It most definitely can!  The first session includes actual hypnosis, as do all sessions. This consists of an "induction" or relaxation technique, usually followed by positive suggestions, mental imagery, remembering successful events, and possibly more advanced techniques such as N.L.P, Parts Therapy or regression. Afterwards, I'll ask you what you liked, how you feel, assign homework and discuss next steps. All sessions are private, very confidential and take place in a professional space and or in the comfort of your own home via online video sessions.  Hypnosis has proven effective for literally hundreds of issues, from overcoming stress and bad habits to managing pain and overcoming procrastination. So chances are excellent it can help you as well, whether you want to use hypnosis as your sole method of treatment or in conjunction with other therapies recommended by your doctor or therapist. 

 

How do you work?

All post-hypnotic suggestions are tailored to you and you alone when we are working one on one.   That is what makes a session with me very powerful. Often I feel I receive intuitive guidance that tells me to "go here now" that only happens under trance. I feel like I have spent half of my lifetime preparing for this work, studying psychology books and metaphysics, since the age of 18, reading widely.  I have also worked through many of my own issues and so possess the understanding, insight and compassion to help others heal themselves. I have often been able to help when others couldn't.  I am very passionate about the work I do and invested in seeing my clients achieve results in as short a time as possible, and work very hard towards that end.  My immediate launch into private practice in 2009 has widened my range of skill sets since then, something I pride myself highly on. 

 

What is the difference between meditation and hypnosis?

Hypnosis has been called mediation with a goal. Mediation is a quieting of the mind, and is in itself can feel very relaxing and beneficial. However, there is no goal, visualizations or positive imagery that deal with the root cause and symptomatic approach to habits and behaviors. With hypnosis, we quiet the mind and relax the body, then add mental imagery, positive suggestion, and other techniques such as NLP or Parts Therapy to accelerate the results of behavior modification. There is always a goal in hypnosis.  The results you'll experience depend upon different factors, including your readiness to change, what kind of rapport you have with your hypnotherapist, and how good of a subject you are. Also, how regularly you do your own self-hypnosis directly impacts the results.  With our personal sessions you will be given a personalized weekly hypnosis recording that is yours forever to keep to listen to nightly in order to reinforce our weekly work together into your subconscious mind.
